Our family's passion for the art of olive oil production has been passed down through generations. As our grandfather used to say, "No oil is the same as the other, but above all it cannot be from year to year. It's the plant, it's the climate, it's the soil, it's the man who never repeats himself."

Oleificio Guccione is a small, family-owned business located in the Hyblaean Mountains of southeastern Sicily, Italy. We, Vito and Giuseppe Divita, are the youngest generation entrusted with carrying on our family's rich tradition. Our mission is to bring the highest quality artisanal olive oil to people's tables, preserving the legacy handed down to us.

The heart of our operation lies in the "Tonda Iblea," a unique olive variety that flourishes in our territory. This low-yielding cultivar results in an intensely fruity oil with exceptional nutritional properties. Zahara EVOO is characterized by marked notes of tomato, herbs, thistle, and a pleasant peppery finish - a true expression of Sicilian terroir.

To ensure the finest quality, we harvest our olives by hand during the first three weeks of October, when the fruit is still green and unripe. This meticulous approach, while less profitable, allows us to maintain the oil's exceptional freshness, low acidity (less than 0.2%), and high polyphenol content. The olives are then cold-pressed within hours of harvesting, preserving the complex flavors and healthy attributes.

Zahara's superior quality has been recognized by prestigious award bodies both in Italy and internationally. In the past two years alone, it has received a "3 leaves" award from Gambero Rosso, gold medals from OLIVE JAPAN and EVO IOOC Italy, and been selected as one of the 100 most representative Italian olive oils in the "Atlante degli oli italiani" (Atlas of Italian Oils).
